During LASIK Surgery
Most of the fear related to any type of surgery lies in the unknown element of the procedure. LASIK laser eye surgery is no different than any other type of procedure. LASIK laser eye surgery is actually a very simple process that can be explained easily.
You will sit down in a reclining chair in a room specially designed for LASIK laser eye surgery. There will be a large machine with a microscope attached to it and a computer screen as part of a laser system. The whole process should not take more than 30 minutes to complete.
The first step your doctor will take is to clean your eye and place a numbing drop of liquid in it. With the LASIK laser eye surgery now underway a ring will be placed around the eye to create suction to the cornea. This will cause the first discomfort of the surgery and blurred vision, but it will only be temporary.
While the suction ring is still around your eye a cutting instrument, called microkeratome, is used to cut a flap in your cornea. From this point on during the LASIK laser eye surgery you will experience some fluctuating blurred vision.
During the evaluation for LASIK laser eye surgery your doctor should have informed you that you will need to be able to stare at a laser for 60 seconds or more during the surgery. You will do this after the tissue has been folded back and dried out by the doctor during the procedure. The laser will direct your eye to the spot that the surgical laser will use to perform the vision correction.
At this point LASIK laser eye surgery may take on an unexpected smell, that of something burning. This is probably because your eye is under the intense scrutiny of the laser that is correcting your vision problems. Though the laser may make some very human sounds (ticking) and smells (burning hair) it is still a very controlled process.
The computer in the room that is hooked up to the laser controls the amount of energy delivered to your eye. Some tissue will be vaporized and finally the flap of the corneal tissue is put back in place, effectively ending LASIK laser eye surgery.
After LASIK laser eye surgery is completed your doctor will supply you with a shield or patch for your eye to prevent irritation. You will quickly realize how many times your eye gets bumped or you involuntarily rub it when you cannot do so. Wear the patch and save yourself some heartache.

Stressed? Have A Talk With Your Body!
Copyright 2006 Mary Desaulniers
Ilana Rubenfeld Ph.D knows first hand what having a conversation with your body means. A gifted violinist at the Julliard School of Music, Rubenfeld was well on her way to become the first woman conductor in the music scene when a debilitating back spasm cut short her music career. It was at that point that Rubenfeld turned to the resources of her body and transformed trauma into triumph by embarking on a personal mission to look for answers in the body's wisdom. The result is "The Listening Hand: The Rubenfeld Synergy Method of Talk and Touch" which made her a world-recognized pioneer in integrating psychotherapy, body work and intuition. "You can learn to develop 'listening hands' in order to 'hear' changes in the body, she says. Talking with your body is the first step towards healing and integration.
Why? Emotions reside and are held inside the body. Any change or event produces a ripple effect throughout the entire physical, emotional, mental and spiritual system of a person. This ripple effect changes one's equilibrium which means that a traumatic event has the power to "freeze" a person physically in the form of chronic neck, back or joint pain and emotionally in the form of depression, despair and anger. Unfreezing or thawing the body at emotional and physical levels means retrieving the memories that have been locked in the cells and re-integrating them through touch and talk with new and present perspectives. In this way, we access the dynamics of healing. What these dynamics mean is that all positions are malleable, provided we allow for their transformation. Talking to your body can literally dissolve painful memories that have been locked in different parts of our bodies. It is always in the present that these changes take place because all "unfinished emotional business is integrated with "new insights into the present. "
How do you talk with your body? Rubenfeld discusses several ways that we can use to open and maintain a steady dialogue with our body. The first way is touch. "Touch," says Rubenfeld, "is a viable, accurate system of communication." Think of the sense of security and warmth an infant feels when he is cuddled by his mother. Returning to touch is returning to our primal language.
Another form of body talk is good-humored, not sarcastic, laughter. Laughing dissolves fear and creates new neural pathways in our brain. Laughter dissolves patterns (which are usually petrified in the flesh) and allows us to think outside the box. And laughter, says Rubenfeld, "is all-pervasive in Rubenfeld Synergy." Humor allows us to plumb the depths of our body and psyche so we can retrieve the gold that has been buried at the end of the tunnel. "It provides ways to express unacceptable feelings by allowing you to talk about dark emotions, fears and shame in trusting, safe, non-threatening ways."
So does tuning into our emotional energy fields. Being aware of your own aura and how it interacts with another person's aura is essential to understanding where you stand. We are all interconnected with one another, which means that if you ignore your partner's energy field, your chances of having a meaningful relationship with that person becomes slim. Talking with your body enhances the conversations you have with your partner and friends.
A more involved form of body talk is the trance state. A trance state is a "direct dialogue with the unconscious mind ," says Rubenfeld. During a trance the rate of brain waves decreases which allows us to feel relaxed and focused at the same time. It is in this relaxed focused state that the mind is most open to suggestions. A trance state is a great opportunity to "rescript an event that was stressful, painful and uncomfortable ." In other words, a trance state allows you to rewrite your negative programming.
Consistent caring for your being is a form of body conversation. A continuous dialogue with the self is necessary when you make the effort to balance work and personal life, self and others, the heart and the head. On–going self care requires vigilance, the ability to listen to the body and take time out to address the issues your body is telling you.
Next time you feel unhinged because you have an unfinished project that is due the next day and you just learned that your son has been suspended from school, relax. Have a talk with your body; surrender yourself to humor, take an hour off for massage or bodywork, then go back to these issues. They will look a whole lot more manageable.

The Plain Truth About Vitamins
Vitamins
Vitamins (combination of two words: Vital Amines) are the complex organic substance important in tiny quantities to the metabolism (nutrition) in most animals. These are found in minute quantities in food, in hardly any cases are produced by the body, and are also produced synthetically. The human body needs them to output completely, so that we can grow and develop just like we should. Their deficiency results in many serious disorders.
Vitamins are split into two major groups: the 'fat-soluble vitamins' assigned as vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, and vitamin K, and the 'water-soluble vitamins' which include vitamin C and the group of molecules referred to as the vitamin B complex. Every one of them has its own special role in the development of human body.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin, plays a really big role in seeing and supports us to see in dim light and also at dark. Vitamin A is also involved in the establishment and maintenance of healthy skin, hair, and mucous membranes. In addition, it is crucial for proper bone growth, tooth development, reproduction and for the development of epithelial cells (that line any opening to the body e.g.; nose, throat, lungs, mouth, stomach, intestines and urinary tract).
Vitamin A can be located in eggs, milk, carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, fish oil, liver (pork, lamb, chicken, turkey or beef), butter, broccoli, apricots, nectarines, cantaloupe, and orange or yellow vegetables or fruits.
The deficiency of vitamin A can cause two major disorders like: nighttime blindness and drying of skin.
Vitamin B
Vitamin B itself is a complex of different vitamins like: B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin, folic acid, biotin and pantothenic acid. These B vitamins are very important in metabolic activity and in facilitating the red blood cell (which move oxygen around your body). They also help your body build protein and energy.
The sources of vitamin B are leafy green vegetables seafood, beans, peas, citrus fruits, whole grains (such as wheat and oats), poultry, meats, eggs and dairy products (like milk and yogurt). Hardly any bacteria in our large intestine also prepare a few type of B-vitamins.
The deficiency of vitamin B can cause the disease "Beri Beri", cracked lips, weak muscles, malformation of red blood cells, affects normal growth and disturbs the nervous system.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is a water-soluble, antioxidant vitamin that is vital to the production of collagen, a protein that gives structure to bones, cartilage, muscle, and blood vessels. It is crucial for keeping body tissues, such as gums and muscles in good shape and it accommodates in quick healing of wounds. In addition, it accommodates protecting the fat-soluble vitamins A and E as well as fatty acids from oxidation.
The vitamin C can be found in citrus fruits (like lemon & orange), cantaloupe, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage and in other fresh fruits and vegetables.
The deficiency of vitamin C affects the healthy skin; poor wound healing and can lead to a disease called "Scurvy" which causes bleeding in gums, easy bruising, bumps of coiled hair on the arms and legs, aching in the joints, muscle wasting, and many other problems.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that regulates the establishment of bone and the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestine. It supports to control the movement of calcium between bone and blood, and vice versa. It is this vitamin you need for strong bones and teeth. In addition it supports your body absorb the amount of calcium it needs.
Vitamin D can be established in fish liver oil, egg yolks, milk and other dairy products fortified with vitamin D. It is also produced in our body in the presence of ultra violet light and sunlight.
The deficiency of vitamin D can cause weak bones and bowed legs (in children). And its excess can cause loss of appetite, weight loss, nausea, headache, depression and deposits of calcium in the kidneys.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin, is required for the inhibition of oxidation in body tissues, arrangement of red blood cells, and also prevents breakdown of body tissues. It maintains the body tissues and protects the lungs from becoming hurt by polluted air.
This vitamin can be found in whole grains (such as wheat and oat), wheat germ, leafy green vegetables, sardines, egg yolks, nuts, bread, cereals and seeds.
The deficiency of this vitamin can cause many diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer's disease.
